About WAHA
- Hindus have excelled across the world in all areas of knowledge. However, our achievements in academia have only marginally affected the strength of our civilization and dharma. Hindu academicians across the world have to come together for strengthening our civilization in several ways. Firstly, much of the discourse in media and general public about Hindu civilization, dharma, and culture, is distorted. The root of this can be traced back to the distortions in the academic world. Hindu academicians need to work together to ensure accurate portrayal of our dharma across the world.
- Also, there have been several cases when Hindu academicians got discriminated against in the workplace because of their allegiance to Hindu Dharma. A network of Hindu academicians can share information related to such instances of discrimination, and work out effective methods to deter such practices.
- There is also a need to mentor young Hindu academicians and researchers across the world. Such mentorship would help young Hindu researchers and academicians develop effective research plans, receive guidance in terms of funding opportunities, access opportunities for collaboration, and receive counselling on career progress to be in positions of greater influence.
- Finally, there are vast areas of knowledge, with connections to Hindu civilization and dharma that remain unexplored, or forgotten. An effective network of Hindu academicians will be able to share ideas, data, resources, and research material in these areas with the intent of rejuvenating what has been forgotten, and also to open up and lead new frontiers of research.
- For all these reasons, the World Association of Hindu Academicians (WAHA) has been created. Some of the most prominent Hindu organizations with a global footprint have been instrumental in its conceptualization and incorporation.
The Organization shall be formally launched at the first Conference of WAHA, which is being held on October 11th and 12th, and is hosted by Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, Bharat.
